NFL 2009 Week 12: Head To Head Power Picks

On my web page Fight for the Right, I wrote:

Sarah Palin went to Michigan and I didn't pick Detroit. It hurt my picks and set the stage for at best a tie with Rachelle. Had I read more deeply into Sarah Palin's sentiments during the 2008 campaign to not write Michigan off, Rachelle could be clucking like a chicken right now on the Eddie Burke show, or some variation of a running bet we have with each other. I defied the thinking of the great Sarah Palin and wrote Detroit off. For that, the universe punished me.

At every stop on this tour I see Americans coming together to say, “Enough. We love our country too much to just sit down and shut up while politicians take us for a ride. We shall be heard.”

Sarah Palin started her book tour this week, and we quickly approach another week of NFL action!!! I've been fighting a terrible cold, so I'll probably be hunkered down this Sunday, watching the NFL action. I gotta get better, so I can hit the road to join my family for our annual Thanksgiving vacation in the desert. I can't wait to hit the trails on my quad and fool around on our family's dune buggy. While Sarah and her family have snow machines, we have our sand toys!!! Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!!! I better win because I have a feeling that should I lose, Patrick will be having my loss center around my having to do something in the desert!!! I better win, and I have a feeling my picks are gonna lead me to doing just that- so gobble, gobble everybody, and again, have a happy turkey day!!!

Week 10 Pigskin Picks

What a week last week!!! My Chargers were 3 games out of first place, just a few weeks ago, but now they find themselves only 1 game out!!! They went into hostile New York, to the Meadowlands and BEAT the Giants. That's right- they beat the Giants!!! I'm so excited because my boys are back. I'm hoping this year's the year. Wouldn't it be fun to meet the Cowboys in the Superbowl? Hell yeah; that would be awesome and a great show!

This week, we find ourselves over halfway through the season, a season that has had a lot of ups and a lot of down for fans all over the country. Yet, just as Sarah is to inspire, many players in the NFL aim to inspire as well whether it be through kind acts of service or traveling to visit our military stationed abroad. LaDainian Tomlinson is one such individual. Although I love to watch LT on the field, it is what he does off the field that truly inspires me to want to do more. Every year, right before Thanksgiving, LT and his beautiful wife spend the day handing out hundreds of turkeys that they personally purchase themselves. These turkeys go to less fortunate San Diego families all over the county. This is what it's all about. This man and his wife don't do this to be praised; instead, they do it because they care and want to help out their fellow man and woman. They don't do this to get an award. They don't do this to get a pat on the back. They do this because they love America and those who live here. They want these families to have a great Thanksgiving and celebrate the holiday just like the rest of us. What a refreshing change of pace from the daily give-me's, handouts and bailouts that have become an all too common occurence. Thank you, LT, for showing all of us what it is REALLY all about. Now, on to week 10!

Yeah, just dreaming here. The odds of Sarah Palin re-tweeting my football picks are as remote as the possibility of the Seahawks beating the Cardinals this week.

Let's get down to business. Metaphorically speaking, it may be Saturday, but Sunday's coming. That couldn't be more true this week as I will finally win my football pool, with the collateral damage being that Rachelle Friberg will lose to me again.
